Wedding Budget
As unglamorous as it may be, the wedding budget is an essential part of wedding planning and preparation. By planning and sticking to an agreed budget, you can prevent you and your partner from beginning married life in debt. Planning a budget can also teach you some essentials of married life in general. For example, to make an effective budget you need to practice some open and honest communication skills.
Consider All Involved
Remember that it is not just the brides big day. The groom will have views on how he would like his day to be as well as the bride, and both parties will no doubt receive input from their respective families.
Share Financial Information
When you are planning a wedding budget, first and foremost you need to know how much money you will have to spend on the big day. You and your partner should sit down and work out what money you already have that you can put into the pot, for example, savings, then you need to work out how much each of you can save from your own incomes, and also you need to find out what other contributions from other people will be made towards the wedding.
Choose A Wedding Budget Your Can Afford
Only when you have a firm figure can you begin to decide how you will allocate the budget. This is when you and your partner need to sit down and discuss exactly what you would both like from the big day itself. Then you need to write down a list of essentials. This might be things like the rings, the venue, the dress and other things that you and your partner consider to be essential costs. After this you can begin to add extras that you would like to have on your big day. This might include a special form of transport, or theme to the wedding.
Allocate Your Budget
Now you can begin to allocate actual dollar figures to each item. You must remember to stick to this budget. If you go over the costs on one item, then you need to cut down on another. Only by doing this can you ensure that you and your partner will begin your married life free from the debt of the wedding.
